Volunteers are needed on Friday, September 5th prior to the race, and Saturday, September 6th during the race. Race Volunteers can help in a number of positions-
a full description of all positions is listed below:
Pre-Race Volunteer Positions (Friday, September 5th):
Course Setup: We will need help setting up the transition area, finish chute and finish area, course marking, etc.
(7AM-9PM - Help is welcome for whatever amount of time that you are able to help! Meet at the finish area)
Packet Pickup (Registration/Check-In): All athletes must pick up goodie bags and race information packets; this will be offered prior to the race.
We will need volunteers to help hand out and track these check-ins.
(7PM-9PM - Location to be determined)
Race Day Positions (Saturday, September 6th):
Packet Pickup (Check-In): All athletes must pick up goodie bags and race information packets; the remaining group of athletes that did not pick up
their race packets friday will be able to pick them up on-site at the race finish area. We will need volunteers to help hand out and track these check-ins.
(5:30am-8am - Finish area, Swim Beach Area)
Body Marking: All athletes must be marked on their shoulders and calves with their race number and age group.
(5:30am-8am - Finish Area, Swim Beach Area)
Wetsuit Strippers: We are hoping to provide Wetsuit strippers for athletes to use as the exit the swim on race day. Wetsuit stripping takes a little practice,
but can be easily done and it will help the racers transition more quickly. Volunteers in this position should plan on getting a little wet and should dress accordingly.
(9am-12am - Swim Beach Area)
Water/Aid Stations: Water stations will be set-up along the run course to distribute drinks and offer help to the participants. Volunteers will help hand out
drinks and assist runners with their questions and keep them pointed in the right direction. This position is ideal for kids to help with, so if you have a group
of children you'd like to accompany, this may be the postion for you!
(6:30am-12pm - Meet at Finish area, Swim Beach Area and you will be escorted to the appropriate station)
Course Assistance:
Volunteers are needed in various locations along the course to make sure that athletes are headed in the right direction and stay on the course.
(6:30am-12pm - Meet Finish Area, Swim Beach Area and you will be escorted to the appropriate area)
Finish Area: We'll need volunteers to assist with post-race food and water handling, help with collection of timing chips, awards and various
other duties.
(8:30am - 12pm - Finish Area, Swim Beach Area)
Course Cleanup/Teardown: As soon as the race is over, the event area will need to be cleaned up and taken down. We are looking for help to
take down the transition area, finish area, pick up remaining trash and clear the bike and run courses.
(8:30am-3pm, Help is welcome for whatever amount of time that you are able to help - Finish area, Swim Beach Area)
Fill out our volunteer request form online or email the volunteer
coordinator at volunteer@goldmedalracing.com with your contact information and specific request for volunteering.
