Race Info
This is the first year of the Legacy Aquathon event! The Legacy Center offers a large full-featured facility for this event with an eight-lane 25 yard pool and an eighth-mile indoor lap track. Yes, you read that right - indoors! The Legacy Aquathon will be held completely inside the Legacy Center facility so there's no need to bring your winter coats to this event! Don't let the winter season stop you from getting some fun in!
The Legacy Aquathon is a great race for both beginners and experienced athletes. With a lighter two-event format, it's less intimidating to the beginner triathlete, runner, or swimmer curious to try a taste of multisport, and perfect for the veteran looking for an opportunity to stay in shape during the off-season with a little friendly competition.
Race Details
The Legacy Aquathon will be held completely indoors, inside the Legacy Center facility. In order to maintain an orderly event, registration will be limited to the first 100 registered racers. Make sure you register as soon as possible to secure your participation in the event!
Race registration and packet pick up will begin Saturday morning at 7:00am in the Legacy Center. Please arrive early
to ensure you have enough time to get registered prior to the race start.
The race will begin promptly at the pool side at 8:00am.
The race will start with the swim first, time trial fashion.
To reduce congestion in the pool, participants will be seeded in
the swim by estimated pace, fastest ones first. Participants will line up near the
pool by the locker rooms and will be started one at a time on 15 second intervals. The swim
will proceed in a serpentine fashion 1 lap in each lane of the pool, then crossing
under the lane to the next until all 8 lanes have been completed.
Upon completion of the swim,
racers will exit the pool, climb up a flight of stairs to the pool viewing area where a transition
area will be set up, and racers will dry off and prepare for the run event. To initiate the run,
racers will proceed through the upstairs doors to the indoor track. Runners will start on the outside
2 lanes (lanes 3 and 4) and run their first 13 laps, and then migrate to the inside lanes 1 and 2 for
the last 12 laps. Timing will end when the participant has completed all 25 laps of the run.
Awards will be given three deep to all age groups, both men and women from 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+, physically challenged. Additional awards will be given for Clydesdale (men over 200 lbs) and Athena (women over 145 lbs) categories.
Race Timing
Race timing will be handled by several race management staff at the pool area, transition area and track. Race staff
will record timestamps at the start of the swim, at the end of the swim, at the beginning of the run, and at the end
of the run for each participant. This tracking will be based on each participant's race numbers and bodymarking - participants will not
be required to wear timing chips. In order to ensure proper recordings, racers must ensure their assigned race number is clearly visible at all times.
This timing method allows us to stagger the swim start and still get a fair and accurate timing for the total race time,
and full split timings for the swim, transition and run!
Timing results will be available here online when the race is complete.
